Not every celeb gets to go to the Academy Awards. The fact is there are just a limited amount of seats in what was formerly the Kodak Theater. So instead, these actors and actresses go to viewing parties. Perhaps the most well known are Elton John's and the Vanity Fair parties.

These festivities are often as glamorous as the Oscars themselves. But they also offer food and drink. So that's a nice added perk.
