Kate Hudson takes on action thriller 'Everly'
She may not be swearing off romantic comedies for good, but Kate Hudson is trying her hand at an action thriller. Hudson will star in "Everly," a story about a woman who fends off assassins hired by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, according to The Hollywood Reporter."When we heard that Kate wanted to make the transition into an action star, we knew we had found our Everly," says Crime Scene Pictures head Adam Ripp in a statement. "They physicality and intensity of this role will be transformative for her."
The script for the movie made the 2010 Black List -- an annual list of hot screenplays yet to find a home -- and was pitched as "Panic Room" meets "Crank." The movie is -- and this is interesting considering it's an action flick -- pretty much confined to the title character's apartment.
"The camera never leaves this one apartment," reports BleedingCool.com. "It can look out into the corridor or wherever, but it always stays in the few basic rooms of the apartment where we first meet Everly, even while characters come and go."
Neato.
Hudson's last big-screen release was 2011's "Something Borrowed" -- a rom-com co-starring Colin Egglesfield, Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski.
