Box Office: 'Secret World of Arrietty' off to a slow start; 'The Vow' wins Friday night

secret-arrietty-1.jpgIt's looking like Presidents Day weekend will have a strong showing at the box office in general, as "The Vow," "Safe House," "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" and "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" are all on pace to earn at least $20 million.

On Friday (Feb. 17), "The Vow won the night with $7.4 million, followed close by "Ghost Rider" at $7 million. "The Vow" was also last weekend's no. 1 movie.

"Safe House" was hot on their heels at $6.5 million and "This Means War" was fourth at $5.6 million. "Journey 2" earned $4.5 million, while animated movie "The Secret World of Arrietty" took home just $1.7 million, though family movies tend to get stronger as the weekend matinee numbers come in.

We'll have the full top 10 just as soon as the numbers are available.
