Amy Winehouse death investigation may be reopened

amy-winehouse-out-of-rehab.jpgThe investigation into the death of Amy Winehouse may be reopened after the coroner who oversaw the inquest resigned when her qualifications were questioned, reports the Associated Press.

Suzanne Greenaway ruled that Winehouse died from accidental alcohol poisoning after resuming drinking after weeks of abstinence. The problem isn't with the investigation, which authorities believe was probably handled correctly, but with Greenaway's apparent ineligibility for the coroner's position.

A native Australian, Greenaway was appointed an assistant deputy coroner by her husband in 2009 despite the fact that she had not been a registered U.K. lawyer for five years as required by the country.

In a statement, Winehouse's family said it was, "taking advice on the implications of this and will decide if any further discussion with the authorities is needed."
