Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese among DGA Award nominees ... Spielberg didn't make the list
Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford today announced the
five nominees for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement
in Feature Film for 2011. There are some pretty big names on that list! There are also a pretty big one missing. The nominees are, Martin Scorsese for "Hugo," Alexander Payne for "The Descendants," Michel Hazanavicius for "The Artist," David Fincher for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and Woody Allen for "Midnight in Paris."
Conspicuously absent from the list is Steven Spielberg for his film "War Horse." No director not at least nominated for a DGA Award has gone on to win the Best Director Oscar, and only a handful of past DGA winners have failed to nab one.
