Severed head found near Hollywood sign

A severed human head wrapped in a plastic bag was found within spitting distance of the legendary Hollywood sign on Wednesday (Jan. 18), reports the Los Angeles Times.

The grisly package was discovered by two dog walkers and regulars to the Bronson Canyon in L.A's Griffith Park say the head must have been deposited in the park sometime on Tuesday, figuring a dog would have discovered it already had it been there earlier.

"Two dogs were playing with it, and that's when the dog walkers looked closer and realized it was a human head," an LAPD spokesperson tells Reuters.

The LAPD hasn't yet been able to identify the man, but are continuing to sweep the area for the rest of the body and more clues.
