SAG Awards 2012: Octavia Spencer weighs in on weight in Hollywood
Actress Octavia Spencer walked away with the SAG award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Movie for her work in "The Help." Backstage, she talked to reporters about the pressure to be the correct weigh in Hollywood. She said it's just as hard if you're extra skinny. "I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women" she said. "It ... has to change." While she feels she's "not healthy at this weight," she doesn't think that people give you the same respect when you're big. "Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem," she says. "When you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable ... It's a society that tells you you're no longer valuable at a certain age. Or because of your weight."
