People's Choice Awards 2012: Demi Lovato wins some (an award), loses some (that performance)
We'd like to preface this post by saying we like Demi Lovato. We really do. We've even been known to spin her debut album "Don't Forget" in our car. (Like, recently. In 2012.) But we can only describe her performance at the 2012 People's Choice Awards with two words: Hot. Mess.
From the misguided outfit (mullet dresses are NOT CUTE) to the heinous hair (those extensions, girl), the look was all wrong. And that's not even taking into consideration the actual performance.
Lovato sang "Give Your Heart a Break" from her September 2011 album "Unbroken," but we're kind of wishing she didn't. It's what we like to call a radio song -- one we'll gladly turn up in the CD player, but should not really be recreated outside of the studio.
It pains us to say it, since we're really rooting for Lovato, but those vocal acrobatics don't really translate live, and her performance definitely did not impress us at all. Ooof.
Hey, it's not all bad news: Lovato won the PCA for Favorite Pop Artist, over Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. That's pretty huge. Congrats!
