Mariah Carey: Nick Cannon in 'a lot of pain'

As we reported on Wednesday, Mariah Carey confirmed via Twitter that husband Nick Cannon was hospitalized for kidney failure while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado.

"As always, he's in good spirits considering the situation," Carey tells People, adding, ""the situation is not easy." Cannon is stable, she says, but "in a lot of pain."

Later in the day on Wednesday, Cannon himself managed to tweet a message out to his followers.

"Currently being transfered [sic] to a hospital in LA," he writes. "Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me... I will be a'ight."

Carey also shared a photo of herself and Cannon in the hospital via her official blog. In the caption, she writes, "We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C."
