Jan Brewer 'breathless' after Obama fight
The pictures of Jan Brewer yelling at President Barack Obama on the tarmac of an Arizona airport are causing quite a stir. Brewer says that her now famous encounter with Obama left her "breathless."Reporters at the airport said the two seemed to be talking over each other and that Obama turned away while Brewer was speaking. Brewer told Fox's Greta van Susteren that the President had taken "umbrage" over her book, "Scorpions for Breakfast." She called the encounter "terrible" and says it "kind of left me breathless."
So, what were they yelling about? Back in 2010, Brewer signed SB-1070, a controversial and tough immigration law, before the Obama administration sued to overturn it. In her book, Brewer says Obama was "condescending" to her, saying the government was doing what it could "but the system was broken," according to the Arizona Daily Star. "It wasn't long before I realized I was hearing the president's stump speech," she said. "Only I was supposed to listen without talking."
The Times says the White House had this to say: "The governor handed the president a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The president said he'd be glad to meet with her again, but did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book."
