Cyndi Lauper song used against Mitt Romney: Singer not pleased about 'True Colors' situation

cyndi-lauper-worldaids.jpgIconic singer Cyndi Lauper recently demanded that her song "True Colors" be removed from a Mitt Romney smear campaign ad. But don't take her refusal to be part of the smear campaign as a sign that she's a Romney supporter.

"Got a phone call saying my version of True Colors was used in commercial trashing Romney," Lauper tweeted on Jan. 12. "1st, I never approved it. Not that I [am] a supporter, I'm not. But I wouldn't have wanted that song to be used in that way. I think...Whoever used my song should have asked, and 2, realized that Mr Romney can discredit himself without the use of my work."

Lauper says that the tune is a "healing song." The commercial, which circulated online, has been removed from sites like YouTube after a copyright claim from Sony BME, Lauper's label.
