Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Golden Globes Gothic

We can't really argue with the way Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked as they walked the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (Jan. 15).

Jolie was getting all sorts of love online -- deservedly so, because she looked incredible -- for her form-fitting white dress with a slash of red (matching her lip color and purse) as she walked up the carpet, and the once again long-haired Pitt managed to make his knee injury work by rocking a black cane with his simple black tux.

But there's something about the way the photographer caught them in this picture that (as noted on Zap2it's Tumblr) reminds us very much of "American Gothic," the famous painting by Grant Wood. Their erect posture, the way they're staring out from the frame -- it's just a moment, but it's kind of uncanny.
