Box Office: 'Devil' and 'Mission Impossible' lead the weekend

devil-inside-hair-paramount.jpgApparently it wasn't such an impossible mission after all. The low-budget horror flick "The Devil Inside" took the weekend box office crown from the mega-budget "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

According to Exhibitor Relations, the thriller took in an estimated $34.5 million over the course of the weekend. Since the movie only cost a reported $1 million, it wouldn't be a huge leap to suggest a sequel might be on the horizon.

Even after four weeks, "Mission Impossible" still brings in the cash. The action flick brought in an estimated $20.5 million.

Rounding out the top five were "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" with $14 million, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" at $11.3 million and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked," which squeaked past "War Horse," landing $9.5 million.

The biggest winner of all was probably Paramount as they produced both "Devil" and "Mission Impossible."
