Alec Baldwin ads for Wegmans reinstated following fan outcry
In early December, "30 Rock" actor Alec Baldwin was famously removed from an American Airlines flight for refusing to turn off his phone because he was in the midst of a game of Words with Friends. In response to that removal, Wegmans Food Markets pulled their ads starring Alec Baldwin and his mother, after some customers complained. But now it turns out there are more Alec supporters than critics, as an outcry started to bring the ads back.
Wegmans says in a statement, "We regret ending the Alec Baldwin holiday commercials one week earlier than planned in response to a couple of dozen complaints. We have decided to run the commercials again, effective immediately. Clearly, many more people support Alec, as evidenced by the hundreds and hundreds of tweets, emails, and phone calls we have received."
In the below interview from April 2011, Baldwin talks about filming the Wegmans ad with his mom.
