ABC gives pilot orders for 2 primetime soaps

Callie-Khouri.jpgABC just gave the green light to two drama pilots, "Americana" and "Nashville," both primetime soaps, according to Deadline. Check out the info below and tell us if either one of these tickles your fancy.

"Americana" is a soap set around a famous fashion designer and his family. (Sounds a bit like "The Bold and the Beautiful.") It was written by Michael Seitzman who will executive produce with Mark Gordon and Mark Gordon Co.'s Nicholas Pepper. Gordon now has three pilots in the works, including an untitled Roland Emmerich project and a comedy called "White Man Van," both at ABC.

"Nashville" is from Oscar-winning "Thelma and Louise" scribe Callie Khouri and TV producer/documentary filmmaker RJ Cutler. The show is a family soap set against the backdrop of the Nashville music scene, following one star on the rise and one who is already successful. Remind anyone of "Country Strong?"
