Steven Tyler sings 'Happy Birthday' to Matt Lauer on 'Today'

Man, famous people get all the cool perks.

On "Today" Friday (Dec. 30), the crew was wishing Matt Lauer a happy 54th birthday when they surprised him with a serenade via satellite from Hawaii. And by none other than Lauer's buddy from a fun interview earlier in the year, Steven Tyler.

Tyler put his typical Tyler spin on the well-known song and Lauer also gave a shout-out to his former co-anchor Meredith Vieira, who happens to share a birthday with Lauer. She turns 58 Friday.

Unfortunately, Lauer did not take the time to inquire as to Tyler's relationship status. The rumors have been flying that Tyler is engaged to girlfriend Erin Brady, after she was spotted sporting a sizable diamond on her left ring finger.

Happy Birthday to Matt and Meredith. And we can't wait to see you back on "Idol," Steven Tyler.
