'Star Trek 2': No original cast members

Leonard Nimoy.jpgLeonard Nimoy made an appearance in the last "Star Trek" film, but it doesn't look like he or any of the other cast members will be appearing in the sequel. Sources close to the film told Showbiz411 the news.

Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty joked, saying "That would involve time travel. And if the real Scotty showed up, that would be something." As you know, the original Scotty, James Doohan, is no longer with us.

Though we're sad to hear that Nimoy won't be showing up to bring original Spock to life on the big screen one more time, we trust J.J. Abrams to deliver something as wonderful as the first film. (We'd love to hear if you agree.) In the meantime, check out this video of Leonard Nimoy doing a little song about a Hobbit. A while back he told the Huffington Post (and this reporter specifically), "Ha!  Now that comes under the heading of 'be careful what you do because it lasts a long time'!  It's a great kids song.  It's a charming kids song.  I'm amazed to see...it's got over a million hits on the internet.  It's great!" We love his sense of humor!
