Karina Smirnoff bounces back from engagement ending with 'Apt. 23'

A source said on Monday (Dec. 5) that "Dancing With the Stars" pro Karina Smirnoff and MLB pitcher Brad Penny have called off their engagement. Sad panda.

But Smirnoff has some other exciting news! She is filming an episode of upcoming new ABC sitcom "Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23" (we've seen the pilot, BTW, and we loved it).

Smirnoff tweets:

"The exciting news is happening today! I'm shooting an episode of ABC's new show Apt23! Can't wait!"
"It's got 2 the set and had Nadege from DWTS do the body make up! Love her! She really knows how to turn a friendly ghost into a tan Latina!"
"Thank u to everyone for all of your support! This is fun!"

She also tweets of her role, "It involves a one liner and a tango!"

Fun stuff. We can't wait to see it. "Apartment 23" is a midseason replacement coming your way in 2012.
