First Lady Michelle Obama sets world record for jumping jacks

First Lady Michelle Obama is now a world record holder. She announced in an email Monday morning (Dec. 12) that her effort with National Geographic Kids to break the record for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period has succeeded. Mrs. Obama says 300,265 people participated, which has shattered the old record of 20,425 people.
To break the record, Mrs. Obama led around 400 students from Washington D.C. schools in jumping jacks on the south lawn of the White House. National Geographic Kids and partner groups organized other events for jumping jacks around the world on Oct. 11-12.
The first lady says in the above video, "More than anything, I want to say, thanks to every single young person who showed that exercise isn't just good for you, but that it's fun too. We've got an even bigger goal to after - ending childhood obesity in a generation."
The event was part of the first lady's Let's Move initiative to combat childhood obesity and promote physical fitness.
