Danny Gokey engaged to Leyicet Peralta, ask for donations to late wife's foundation in lieu of gifts

Danny Gokey was a Season 8 "American Idol" finalist and his big story as the season went on was how he lost his wife Sophia during her third surgery for congenital heart disease just four weeks prior to his "Idol" audition. They had been together 12 years.

Now Gokey has found love again. He is engaged to Leyicet Peralta, the couple announced on the Sophia's Heart Foundation website. They are planning a late January wedding and are asking that all gifts be made in the form of a donation to Sophia's Heart.

The couple also writes, "We are thankful for so many of the blessings God has given us.  It is our desire to see homeless children and families be kept together and lifted back on their feet through the help of Sophia's Heart. We love and appreciate you all."
