Cameron Douglas gets 4.5 more years in prison
Cameron Douglas, the troubled 33-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas, was sentenced Wednesday (Dec. 21) to four-and-half more years in prison after being found guilty of possessing drugs while incarcerated. This is on top of the five years Douglas is already serving for a drug dealing conviction.
Despite letters from father Michael, stepmother Catherine Zeta-Jones and grandfather Kirk Douglas begging for leniency, the judge doled out a sentence two-and-a-half years longer than what was originally asked for by prosecutors, reports the New York Post.
Judge Richard Berman called Douglas, who had also written a personal letter begging for a light sentence, "reckless, disruptive and non-compliant," adding that Douglas had "blown the biggest opportunity of his life."
"I feel ashamed,' said Douglas prior to sentencing.
