Suspect in killing of Charice's father turns himself in

The man wanted in connection with the murder of singer and "Glee" actress Charice Pempengco's father has given himself up and reportedly taken responsibility for the killing.

Angel Capili Jr. surrendered to the chief of his village south of Manila in the Philippines on Thursday (Nov. 3). He told reporters that he's ready to face whatever charges come at him in the killing of 40-year-old Ricky Pempengco on Monday.

"I had really planned to surrender because what I did was wrong," Capili said, according to the Associated Press. "I am seeking forgiveness from the family left behind by Mr. Pempengco. ... I am prepared to suffer whatever is the judgment."

The 19-year-old Charice says she's not yet ready to forgive the suspect: "He should not defend himself," she says. "He cannot bring back my dad."

Ricky Pempengco was stabbed to death Monday night. Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, who spoke with Capili, says Capili claims Pempengco assaulted him, and he fought back with a screwdriver. "We will compare the account of witnesses with the account of the suspect," Robredo says.

Charice has canceled some tour dates in order to be with her family.
