Sugarland sued for stage collapse at Indiana State Fair

sugarland-bareilles-gi.jpgSugarland was about to take the stage after their opening act, Sara Bareilles, performed at the Indiana State Fair this August, when high-speed storm winds took their stage down into the crowd. Four fans were killed and many others were critically injured in the tragic event.

Now, the country duo is being targeted by a lawsuit representing the families of the four fatalities, as well as 44 survivors. Over 20 law firms are participating in the law suit which seeks damages from Sugarland as well as the producers, stage riggers, and others involved, according to USA Today.

"Unfortunately, this tragedy could have been prevented if the responsible parties had been concerned about the concertgoers that night," says attorney Mario Massillamany.

A State Fair Remembrance Fund has already paid about $564,000 to 28 people, with another $400,000 still to be awarded.
