Lady Gaga to receive Trevor Hero Award for helping youth 'express their true selves with pride'
It has been announced that the Trevor Project will honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 during "Trevor Live" at the Hollywood Palladium. The Trevor Project is a national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBT youth. Trevor Live is its annual night of comedy, music and awards that raises money for the Trevor Project."Our young people are at the center of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga and technology leaders like Google Inc. have stepped up to help change our culture. Our honorees are working with The Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award and Google Inc. with the Trevor 2020 award for their work to help young people express their true selves with pride," says David McFarland, interim Executive Director and CEO of the Trevor Project.
Adam Shankman, noted director and choreographer, returns as the special guest director for Trevor Live, which features appearances by Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, LeeAnn Rimes, Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Damian McGinty, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Mark Salling, Harry Shum, Will Arnett, Geoffrey Arend, Matt Bomer,Diego Boneta, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Kaley Cuoco, Josh Duhamel, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Amber Heard, Christina Hendricks, Julianne Hough, Rashida Jones, Zachary Levi, Joe Manganiello, Chris Pine, Amy Poehler, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Eric Stonestreet.
