Jim Parsons heading back to Broadway
Jim Parsons has a giant imaginary bunny as a best friend. Okay, not really. Parsons is heading back to Broadway to star in a revival of the 1944 play, "Harvey."The Emmy Award-winning star of "The Big Bang Theory" already made his mark on the Great White Way in last year's "The Normal Heart." According to EW, he'll star as Elwood P. Dowd, a man whose best friend is a 6-foot 3½-inch imaginary rabbit. When Elwood's odd behavior threatens his sister's social life, she tries to have him committed, only to end up in the crazy house herself. Jessica Hecht will play the sister and Charles Kimbrough will play the hospital's chief.
Parsons will be following in the footsteps of Jimmy Stewart, who played the role in the original stage production, the 1950 film and the 1970's revival. Previews begin May 18, with the official opening night set for Jun. 14.
