Elvis Costello doesn't want you to buy his new album
Elvis Costello doesn't want you to buy his music. Well, not this time. But he has a good reason. It's overpriced.Costello said on his website he had failed to persuade the powers that be to cut the price of "The Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook" limited edition CD box set. One fan online said: "Great to see Elvis Costello keeping the spirit of punk alive." Others added: "Like him or not, nobody can deny Elvis Costello has principles", and "My respect for Elvis Costello has suddenly rocketed."
Costello continued, "We find ourselves unable to recommend this lovely item to you as the price appears to be either a misprint or a satire." He asked that people buy Louis Armstrong's Ambassador of Jazz box set instead and wait for a price drop in January. Wow! This is either a very smart publicity stunt or ... shocker ... someone has morals. Anyway, Elvis, we're waiting.
