Conrad Murray attorney: Doctor didn't receive 'fair trial'
As Dr. Conrad Murray sits in a Los Angeles jail awaiting sentencing in the death of Michael Jackson, his legal team begins exploring their next steps. And it appears an appeal is on the horizon.During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, defense attorney Nareg Gourjian says he felt Dr. Murray didn't receive fair trial in the involuntary manslaughter case.
"I think what went wrong was a lot of the pretrial rulings that were made by the court in reference to some of the evidence that we planned to offer for the jury to consider," Gourjian says. "I think that's essentially what denied Dr. Murray a fair trial in this case."
The attorney adds that Murray was "devastated" by the verdict but is "confident" he will prevail on appeal.
Sentencing for Murray is slated for Nov. 29. He faces up to four years in prison and could lose his medical license.
