Celebrate Sadie Hawkins Day with the gutsy gals of TV and film

The modern Sadie Hawkins Day bears little resemblance to the holiday's origin in the 1939 comic strip "Lil Abner," where a spinster tried to trap a man into marrying her. Today, it's traditionally celebrated via dances where women ask their dates to accompany them instead of waiting for an invitation of their own.Zap2it much prefers the Sadie Hawkins celebrations of today, so in her honor, we've compiled a list of the gutsiest gals on TV and in movies.
From Buffy Summers and her slaying of vampires in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to Kara "Starbuck" Thrace and her slaying of Cylons in "Battlestar Galactica," from Katniss Everdeen fighting for her life in the "Hunger Games" to Mattie Ross searching for her father in "True Grit," there are plenty of fierce females who take matters into their own hands.
