Bubba Smith autopsy results: Weight-loss drug caused death
Bubba Smith, NFL player, actor, and TV pitchman, passed away on August 3rd at the relatively young age of 66. The "Police Academy" star's autopsy results were released Wednesday Nov. 3 by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. He died of acute drug intoxication, with a few other contributing factors.
The Coroner's statement reveals that Smith's body contained high levels of the weight-loss drug phentermine, and he also had heart disease. The 6'-7" tall Smith had an enlarged heart -- weighing nearly twice that of an average human heart -- and 75% blockage of blood vessels.
