Ben Whishaw is Q in James Bond movie 'Skyfall'
"The Hour" star Ben Whishaw will revive the role of spy-tech mastermind Q in the next James Bond movie, "Skyfall."Whishaw, who's 31, will be the first Q who is younger than James Bond (Daniel Craig), notes the BBC, which first reported the casting news. The character was played for most of the Bond series by Desmond Llewelyn; after his death in 1999, John Cleese replaced him in "Die Another Day." Q wasn't in the first two Bond movies starring Craig.
It makes sense to us, though, to have a younger actor as Q, considering the tech Bond has used in the past two movies has tended more toward sophisticated computer equipment than shoes with daggers in the heel.
Whishaw starred in the BBC miniseries "The Hour" earlier this year; his other credits include "The Tempest," "Bright Star" and "I'm Not There." He also worked with Craig on the 2004 crime movie "Layer Cake."
