'The Dark Tower' headed to HBO with Javier Bardem still attached?

gunslinger.jpgIt turns out that on-again/off-again TV/film adaptation of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series is on again. At least according to producer Brian Grazer who, along with Ron Howard, has outlined an ambitious plan for converting the 7-book saga into a live action epic.

We're going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO," Grazer tells MTV. "We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with -- to be determined. We'll do it right."

Grazer added that he thinks Javier Bardem will still be on board to star as futuristic cowboy Roland Deschain, but says he and Howard were still able to trim $45 million from a budget that was too big for Universal -- which had previously planned to develop the project.

What do you think? Is "The Dark Tower" back on track for good? And what do you think of Javier Bardem as the Gunslinger?
