Susan Sarandon chided for Pope 'Nazi' comment

susan-sarandon-getty.jpgSusan Sarandon is being condemned by both Catholic and Jewish groups for likening Pope Benedict XVI to a Nazi.

According to Reuters, the head of the Catholic League has labeled the comments "obscene" and the Anti-Defamation League released a statement asking Sarandon to apologize for the "deeply offensive" remark.

Sarandon made the comments on Saturday (Oct. 15) at the Hamptons Film Festival. While discussing her movie "Dead Man Walking," Sarandon commented that she had given a copy to the Pope.

"The last one... not this Nazi one we have now," replied Sarandon when asked to be specific.

Thus far, Sarandon has not issued an apology or retracted her statement.
