Matt Damon is Whitey Bulger when he re-teams with Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are taking on mobster Whitey Bulger. The pair, who shot to stardom after their 1997 collaboration won them Best Writing Academy Awards, are teaming back up for a movie about the mob boss with Damon in the lead role. Affleck will direct and Ben's younger brother Casey Affleck will also star in a supporting role, reports Deadline. Terence Winter, creator and writer of "Boardwalk Empire," will pen the script."Matt and I have been looking for something to do together for some time," says Affleck. "We've heard about Whitey Bulger since we were kids, and we are excited by the prospect of putting it on screen."
Bulger is the notorious Boston-area crime boss who was on the lam for 16 years until he was arrested this past June in Santa Monica, CA. The Damon/Affleck movie will chronicle Bulger's youth, incarceration at Alcatraz and rise to mob boss while serving as an FBI informant in secret.
