Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries divorce: A selection of online snark
The news that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries set the Internets ablaze Monday (Oct. 31), and unsurprisingly a lot of the chatter about the end of their brief, 72-day marriage tended toward the quippy side.Within an hour of the news breaking, the hashtag #ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage was trending on Twitter (soon to be followed by #kimkmarriagewasshorter). Dozens of tweets have noted that the NBA lockout which has kept Humphries from plying his pro-basketball trade in the United States has lasted longer than the marriage did.
Below, some of our favorite online reactions to the news of Kim and Kris splitting:
@cradav (and several others): Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce. During this difficult time, the Kardashian family requests as much attention as possible.
@hunterw: Guess I'll never get that thank you note for my wedding gift. (Note: @hunterw is the Twitter alias of New York Observer and ex-The Daily writer Hunter Walker, and he did in fact send the couple a wedding gift. Read about it here.)
@JoshMalina: Whoa! Re-watching the Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries Wedding Special. TOTALLY different experience knowing what I now know...
@lizzwinstead: Bet Kris Humphries wishes he hadn't joined the #OccupyKimKardashian movement.
@TVDoneWright: At this point, not even Ross Gellar would marry Kim Kardashian ....
@KenLevine: Kim Kardashian files for divorce. This is why her weddings need to be televised LIVE.
@DRUNKHULK: HALLOWEEN TIME DRESS UP! BE SOMEONE YOU NOT! AND PLAY TRICK ON PEOPLE! LOT LIKE KIM KARDASHIAN MARRIAGE!
And finally, this oft-retweeted note, which is not so much funny as face-palmingly painful:
@DVNJr: Kim Kardashian sold the rights to her wedding for $17.9 million. Her marriage lasted 72 days. That comes to a nifty $10,358.80 per hour.
