Hilary Swank paid $1.5 million to attend Chechen president's controversial event
Earlier this month, Hilary Swank was criticized for attending the an event in Grozny City and wishing a happy birthday to Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov, who is accused of torturing and murdering several individuals. The Human Rights Commission sent her a letter warning her of the implications of supporting Kadyrov beforehand, but she apparently missed the memo.Later, she apologized for her attendance, telling the Washington Post, "I deeply regret attending this event, which has thrown into question my long and deeply-held commitment to the protection of human rights. I would never intentionally do anything that raised doubts about such commitment."
Now, Radar reveals that Swank didn't just attend the event -- she was paid $1.5 million for it. No mention of the cash out was made in her statement of regret.
