Carla Bruni, France's first lady, gives birth to baby girl
It's a first for France! Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday (Oct 18) night; it marks the first time a child was born to a serving French president. It also marks the first time a supermodel has given birth to a French president's child (that we know of).
According to reports, the baby girl was born around 7:30pm. President Sarkozy reportedly flew back from Germany where he was holding talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel regarding ways to save the Euro.
Bruni-Sarkozy has a son from an earlier marriage while President Sarkozy has three boys from two previous marriages. That is one big extended presidential family. Bruni-Sarkozy must be thrilled to be a mom, if only because of her recent statements that she was eager to "get it over with" so she could have a drink and a cigarette.
