Box Office: 'Real Steel' reigns supreme with a $27.3 million opening weekend

real-steel-hugh-jackman-evangeline-lilly.jpgThe Hugh Jackman-Evangeline Lilly robot boxing movie "Real Steel" took the weekend box office crown with a $27.3 million opening, according to studio estimates Sunday (Oct. 9). Its worldwide total is up to $49.4, as it has earned $22.1 million overseas.

"The Ides of March" political thriller starring George Clooney and Ryan Gosling was runner-up, as it opened with a soft $10.4 million weekend. "Dolphin Tale," which had been the box office leader the weekend before, fell to no. 3 at $9.2 million, bringing its total earnings to $49 million.

5. "50/50," $5.5 M
6. "Courageous," $4.6 M
7. "The Lion King" (in 3D), $4.55 M
8. "Dream House," $4.5 M
9. "What's Your Number?", $3.05 M
10. "Abduction," $2.9 M
