Oscar nominee Diane Cilento, best known for playing Molly in "Tom Jones," died on Friday (Oct. 7) at the age of 78. Cilento died of a long illness (no official cause was given) at the Cairns Base Hospital in her home country of Australia.

Cilento's Oscar nomination came in 1963 for her work in Tony Richardson's "Tom Jones." A year before that, she famously married "James Bond" actor Sean Connery -- the couple had a son, Jason, before divorcing in 1973.

Later in life, Cilento established an outdoor theater, the Karnak Playhouse, and authored her 2006 autobiography, "My Nine Lives."  Her friend, playwright Michael Gow, attended a recent dinner party with Cilento and told ABC that "she was a performer to the end, and she put on a great display for all the guests."
