Anne Hathaway confirmed to join film adaptation of 'Les Miserables'
Anne Hathaway is set to join the already star-studded cast for the upcoming film "Les Miserables" according to Deadline. The actress will partner up with Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman for the picture based on the novel by Victor Hugo. In the film, Hathaway will play Fantine, a prostitute. Crowe is set to play Inspector Javert and Jackman will play the main character, Jean Valjean. Helena Bonham Carter is also slated to join the cast as Madame Thenardier.
The movie will be directed by Tom Hooper ("The King's Speech") and has an expected release date of Dec. 7, 2012.
Perhaps producers' casting decision for Hathaway was swayed by her performance at the 2011 Oscars when she sang "On my own," or at least an adaptation of it.
