Serena Williams tops Ana Ivanovic to advance at U.S. Open
Serena Williams on Monday breezed past Serbian Ana Ivanovic to advance to the U.S. Open quarterfinals. Ivanovic, the 23-year-old player from Serbia who is recognized as much for some of her provocative photo shoots as for her tennis, struggled on her serve and made several errors throughout the match, according to the Guardian.
Last week, Serena's sister Venus Williams was forced to drop out of the Open because of her battle with Sjogren's Syndrome -- an autoimmune disorder that can cause fatigue and joint pain.
In the next round of play, Serena Williams will face Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
