Russell Crowe joins cast of 'Les Miserables' film
We already know he can, umm, gladiate and even crush chairs with his hands. But in case there was every any question about his musical abilities (30 Odd Foot of Grunts notwithstanding), we're going to find out whether or not Russell Crowe has what it takes to carry a tune. According to EW, the actor has signed on to co-star with Hugh Jackman in the big-screen adaptation of "Les Miserables." While Jackman will play the lead role of Jean Valjean, Crowe will portray his nemesis -- police inspector Javert, the man who throws Valjean into prison for stealing bread to feed his family.
Tom Hooper, who won an Oscar for "The King's Speech," will direct. It's already got a release date, too, so mark your calendars for Dec. 7, 2012.
Here's just one of the songs Crowe will likely take on -- as for the wardrobe, looks like he can just recycle his old "Master and Commander" look:
