Regis Philbin begins his farewell tour

Regis Philbin, ready or not, will retire in November. After 28 years hosting "Live! With Regis and [insert name here, currently 'Kelly']," the 80-year-old talker is moving on.Monday (Sept. 5), the Emmy-winning show kicked off the "Regis Farewell Celebration Season," inviting fans to send in video tributes and photos of themselves holding signs reading "Regis" or "Smile" (the latter is a reference to the "Regis You Make Me Smile" segment).
The show also plans to run clips of some of the show's funniest moments from the last few decades, according to the Inquisitor, and welcome some of Reeg's favorite stars -- like Matt Damon, Salma Hayek, Jonah Hill (really?) and Tom Selleck -- to bid him goodbye.
For anyone considering a video tribute, the assignment is easy: Just create a clip letting "Regis know what he means to you." Then submit it via the show's official website.
Regis' replacement, by the way, is still undecided though Philbin himself said recently that he'd like to see "Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron take his place.

NO ONE can replace Regis. I think they should just end the show as a tribute to him and his legacy as one of the morning greats.
Regis was just kidding with the Tom Bergeron comment since he knows there is a long running feud between Gelman and Bergeron. Gelman has a grudge against Bergeron for some stupid little thing that happened with Gelman's wife when Bergeron and her co-hosted a morning show many years ago. That is one of the ways Bergeron started his career. It would never happen as long as Gelman is still producing Live! If you noticed, Bergeron has never even been a guest - only other DWTS judges and contestants. Read TB's book for details.
I liked to see no new co-host, pay off Ripa and cancell the show since most of ABC's daytime lineup is done anyway. I still want tickets for one of the final shows though.

I agree with the very first post.
End the show as a tribute to him, no one can truly replace him and most likely people will stop watching it. Kelly is not that great with or without Regis, and there are way too many shows nowadays doing the same things.
End the show and good wishes to Regis and thanks for the memorable years you've given us!
change is always hard but will miss regis got so used to seeing him on in the mornings and it will be sad to see him leave thanks for the memories......

Wishing him a terrific retirement.I was moved by the coverage of a family being assisted and watching them being awarded a house after losing their job/home. It is nice to see decent, caring people are still around. The best to the show!
I agree..."Live" without Regis is a bust, and without him I think the show will tank. No disrespect to Kelly...I really like her, but she needs to have Regis to feed off of or she is boring. In light of all the dumb decisions ABC seems to be making in terms of their daytime line-up, they should try and make a smart one for once and put this baby to bed!
