Queen's Freddie Mercury gets a Google doodle on his 65th birthday

freddie-mercury-google-doodle.jpgMost of the world on Monday (Sept. 5) was treated to an animated Google Doodle honoring the late Freddie Mercury, the Queen frontman who died in 1991 due to complications from AIDS. But, in the U.S. where we're celebrating Labor Day, the Google logo remained unchanged with only a small U.S. flag added to the Google home page below the search box.

Don't worry, though, according to Google the doodle will appear on the U.S. version of Google on Tuesday (Sept. 6).

But die-hard Mercury fans can still see the doodle -- a 98-second-long animation backed by the 1978 Queen song "Don't Stop Me Now" by visiting the official Google blog or, you know, watching it here:

Accompanying the doodle, Queen bandmate Brian May wrote a blog post sharing his remembrances of Mercury.

"Like a great comet," writes May, "he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come."

Well, between Labor Day and Freddie Murcury's birthday it's clear which event is more important and worth celebrating. I know doodles are just for fun, and they don't have to do them at all, but it's just another sign that America is great for homosexuals and foreigners, but not so great for workers. It's time we stop worshiping deviants and show respect for the American worker by bringing jobs back from China and providing people who were born in this country with the same advantages that those who come here from abroad are provided (such as ultra-low interest business loans).
