Hydrangeas symbolize 'frigidity.' Is that Madonna's problem?

madonna-loathes-hydrangeas.jpgpurple-hydrangeas.jpgSorry, we're still a bit hung up on Madonna's loathing of hydrangeas.

This particular floral aversion came to light during a press conference for her new movie "W.E." at the Venice Film Festival. A fan handed her a stalk of the purple blossoms and after quickly shoving it under the table she was seated at she told the person next to her, "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn't know that."

And it's been bugging us ever since.

Other than some deeply scarring incident that scarred her personally, there's very little to dislike about the ornamental flowers that are native to Asia, North and South America.

But then again, while a gift of them does symbolize "Thank you for understanding," hydrangeas also have a couple of other, harsher, meanings. Namely, "frigidity" and "heartlessness."

Could that be it? Does Madonna hate hydrangeas because they've got her number?
