Heather Morris' 'bruised-up Barbie' pic to be auctioned off

heather-morris-bruise-tyler-shields.jpgOn Thursday (Sept. 1), celebrity photographer Tyler Shields posted a series of photos taken during a shoot with "Glee's" Heather Morris with the description: "Even Barbie bruises. We have been talking about shooting for a long time and we finally made it happen! Some magic, irons, and bruises later it was complete."

Immediately the complaints and criticisms began.

"Isn't turning a young actress into a doll enough of a talker without also beating her up?" opined Shine blogger Piper Weiss. "At this point, it's not even worth a debate to add more fuel to the fire. What needs to happen is an internal snub from the fashion industry to assert that that kind of attention-baiting is unacceptable. It's become an industry-standard publicity measure, and one that wouldn't fly in any other field. Fashion thrives on controversy, but abuse against women isn't even controversial, it's just off limits."

Despite defending and sticking by the concept for the photos, Shields is making an effort to make amends ... or at least spin things in a more positive direction. Thirty percent of the proceeds for two of the less-controversial photos will go to homeless charity The Big Issue. However, 100% of the proceeds for a limited edition of three lithographs of a close-up of Morris' bruised face signed by Shields will go to a domestic violence organization.

Bidding starts at $100,000.

Anyone who thinks these photos "glamorize" abuse is insane or an attention-seeking liar.

First of all, why would ANYONE want to glamorize abuse?

And unless you've had a recent lobotomy, if you just LOOK at the photos you can see that no one is getting hurt ... it's just makeup and meant to be symbolic.

It reminds me of the Tareyton cigarette commercials of the '60s. The black eye symbolizes defiance, and Heather clearly emerges triumphant here.

The activist who is leading the hate bandwagon (not mentioned in this article, thank God) is just desperate for attention and dishonest as hell. I wouldn't give her a dime. She doesn't have the judgment or moral fiber needed to wage an effective battle against abuse.
