'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' trailer: Tom Hanks, Thomas Horn, Sandra Bullock star in Oscar hopeful

The first trailer for "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," the film based on Jonathan Safran Foer's post-9/11 novel, has hit the web, and it's pretty affecting.

The movie stars Thomas Horn (a former "Jeopardy!" kids champ) as a precocious 9-year-old named Oskar Schell, whose father (Tom Hanks) dies in the 9/11 attacks in New York, leaving behind Oskar and his mother (Sandra Bullock). Oskar finds a key in his dad's belongings and sets out on a quest to find where it came from.

The trailer makes good use of U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" and showcases what looks to be a possible breakout performance by Horn in his first feature film role. The movie also stars Viola Davis, James Gandolfini, Max Von Sydow, Jeffrey Wright and John Goodman; Stephen Daldry ("The Reader," "The Hours") directs.

"Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" opens in limited, Oscar-qualifying release on Christmas Day and will go wide in January. What do you think of the trailer?
