Buddy Holly's Walk of Fame ceremony includes Gary Busey and widow Maria Elena Holly Santiago
On what would have been his 75th birthday (Sept. 7), Buddy Holly received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star. The early rock legend was known for such hits as "That'll Be the Day," "Peggy Sue" and "Every Day." He was killed at the age of 22 in the infamous plane crash that also claimed the lives of Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. There are now some pictures available of the ceremony, which we've included here. Among those attending the Walk of Fame induction included Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly Santiago, Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers and actor Gary Busey, who was nominated for an Oscar in 1978 for his portrayal of Holly in "The Buddy Holly Story."
After the sidewalk ceremony, there was a concert held at the Music Box Theatre in Hollywood to honor Holly's music. Performers included Michelle Branch, Chris Isaak, Boz Skaggs and Paul Anka.
