Brad Pitt appears on the cover of Sports Illustrated

Brad Pitt is no stranger to magazine covers. He's been on Rolling Stone, W, Vanity Fair, GQ, Wired, People, Time, Esquire, heck even Playgirl. But one magazine that Brad has never covered (and probably shouldn't have up until now) was Sports Illustrated.

Brad Pitt hits the cover of SI on Sept. 26 donning an Oakland Athletics cap in honor of his new movie "Moneyball." In the flick, Pitt plays Oakland general manager Billy Beane; Beane is widely known as the genius GM who shifted the baseball scouting paradigm. But apparently, Pitt is no baseball nut.

"It's shameful how little I know about baseball...I'm amazed they let me do this movie."

However, Pitt connected to the film on a character level, stating that he's a "sucker for the underdog story."

Next magazine cover for Pitt? Here's hoping for Cat Fancy.

"Moneyball" opens on Friday, Sept. 23.
