Teen Choice Awards: Rebecca Black recycles, still loves 'Friday'

If Sunday's (Aug. 7) Teen Choice Awards had come and gone without Rebecca Black, the 14-year-old whose loopy song "Friday" went viral when it was posted to YouTube earlier this year, then we would have declared the whole thing a sham.

Luckily, Black was on hand and even won an award: Choice Web Star.

Backstage, the first-time winner was prepared to talk about her budding career. That's when things started going a little bit off the rails. To her credit, Black ably handled some out-of-left-field questions.

"Rebecca," yells out an unidentified questioner, "what do you do to be green at home?"

Ummm, at home, oh my gosh -- I listen to my parents all the time," she replied without losing a beat. "I'm just basically on the Internet hanging out with friends."

The questioner was ready with a follow-up: "Do you recycle? What do you do to be more environmental [sic] aware?"

"I recycle all the time," said Black. "And I try to online shop so you can, like, save gas going in to the mall. So, yeah, I'm a big recycler."

Then another voice pipes up, asking, "Is Friday really your favorite day of the week?"

"It really is," Black replies. "Friday is a pretty awesome day."
