Rose McGowan: I escaped a cult
In the new issue of People magazine, "Conan the Barbarian" actress Rose McGowan details her unusual childhood growing up as a member of the Children of God sect in rural Italy. "I did not want to be like those women," says McGowan, who described the female members of the cult as subservient. "They were basically there to serve the men sexually."
McGowan, now 38, says her father decided to leave the cult when he began to fear McGowan would be sexually molested.
"My dad was strong enough to realize that this hippie love had gone south."
The actress has previously talked about living as a runaway with drag queens in Portland, Ore.
"There are people who will read this story and think I had a strange existence," she says. "I think they've had a strange existence!"

I thought that she lived with her two sisters called the Slutty Ones in San Francisco casting spells on a movie director to break up his marriage or was that another movie !!!
I HEARD THE SAME THING!!! Also I'm finding all her talk of 'escaping' the beliefs of the cult, now called the family, hard to swallow...given her own amount of 'flirty fishing' in order attain some level of stardom. Further more, i've checked two pages...her childhood memories change a little here and there...hmmm...
OMG! What did she do to her face??? That's so sad.
In response to Theresa, she did what most of the people in Hollywood who suffer from narcissism do. They try to improve on what doesn't need to be improved. Usually, as in this case, they turn out looking worse than when they started. Case in point is Meg Ryan. That was a bloody shame.
